Black Friday Helps to Get Started with Wood Carving
Either you come up with a necessity to drink a lot of coffee these cold days or you make wood warm up your evenings. I’m doing both. But it’s not that I’m a “fireplace man”. Just when I finish my work at 7 pm, I get some wood and a knife, I sit in my rocking chair and enjoy the evening.
Funny thing is, I came up with the idea to try carving wood in November, and November is a Black Friday month. This is how I found Amazon and got some nice tools. But I wish I would know where to look for the deals. Unfortunately, it’s not easy to figure that out, especially if you’re a newbie to both, wood carving and Amazon.
I’m going to share my knowledge in this article. Hopefully, it will help you the way it helped me.
1. BeaverCraft Wood Whittling Kit S15
First, and a really nice one, BeaverCraft, a well-known brand from Ukraine. They announced a 20% OFF some of the tools. My favorite one is a wood whittling kit that works for general wood carving as well as chip carving. It includes three knives, a stropping kit, and a tool roll. So basically you get all you need right from the start. A tool roll to keep your knives safe. A stropping kit to get your tools sharp. Three knives itself to cover a huge range of carving projects.

2. Morakniv Wood Carving Knife 122
Second, and as well a nice one, Morakniv. They got a sale for the wood carving knife. A solid tool to start carving wood. It comes in a sheath. Nice quality. Guys are based in Sweden. They do not only wood carving knives, but mostly bushcraft knives. So you can check out Morakniv if you’re into some outdoor activities.

3. Elemental Spoon Carving Knife
If you’re interested in some kitchenware, then probably you’d need a spoon carving knife. There is a really cheap one from a Chinese seller, so-called Elemental. I cannot say anything about quality. From what I heard they could be really low quality. Plus my experience with Chinese tools says the same. But you can try it out though.

4. BeaverCraft Hook Knife for Right-Handed & Left-Handed
BeaveCraft announced a 20% OFF discount for their hook knives as well. Good thing, they put on sale a right-handed spoon carving knife as well as left-handed hook knife. As for me, it’s better to pay a bit more for the tool but it will serve you well much longer than pay less and throw it to the garbage tomorrow. You can carve spoons, cups, bowls, kuksas etc.

5. BeaverCraft Small Whittling Knife C1
In case you just need a basic wood carving knife, then I’d suggest starting with BeaverCraft Whittling Knife C1. It’s a bit different than their the most popular C4 knife, but it works well. It feels really good in the hand. Plus C1 is on sale.

6. Geeaoo Carving Tools 12 pcs
Big set of carving toolsfrom Geeaoo. Seller’s name sounds like a Chinese one. Although the price is good. Not sure chisels hold the edge for a long period of time, but still, it’s a nice option to start with.

7. Cane Topper Woodcarving: Projects, Patterns, and Essential Techniques
Well-known carver and writer Lora S. Irish put on sale an essential carving book with projects, patterns, and carving techniques included. If you’re looking for some help and a piece of advice, then this book would come in handy.

8. BeaverCraft Whittling Knife C2
One more nice deal from BeaverCraft. A whittling knife with the ergonomic handle for general carving and detail whittling. Perfect opportunity to get one for a really low price due to Black Friday. 9. BeaverCraft Wood Carving Knife C13
A small whittling knife. Personally I love this one more. It has a smoother handle and it feels in the hand much better than C1. But it could be my personal point of view though. Which is why it’s good to check it out and make your decision based on the pics of the handle.
